Training course bookings - Terms and Conditions

All training course bookings must be made online and Tamworth Sailing Club requests payment to be made online using BACS/FPS. If online payment is not possible we will also accept payment by cheque or cash. Payments by cheque or cash should be placed in an envelope with the trainee’s name, course and date written clearly on the envelope and this should be handed to a member of the General Committee for the attention of the Treasurer.

All bookings must be paid within 7 days of booking or your place will be forfeited, notwithstanding the cancellation policy below. You will not be allowed to participate in a training course unless the course fee has been paid in full.

Once you have booked a place on a training course the fee remains due whether you attend or not.

There is no guarantee that a certificate or pass will be awarded at the end of the course. Tamworth Sailing Club runs RYA accredited courses and as such the participant must achieve the necessary skill levels to be awarded the certificate.

A parent, guardian or nominated adult must remain on the premises with students under 18 years of age.

Cancellation and refunds - cancellation by you

Tamworth Sailing Club will, at its discretion, offer a refund to you should you wish to cancel your place on a course, so long as the cancellation is received no later than 4 weeks prior to the course starting date.

Tamworth Sailing Club endeavours to run all courses advertised on the website but if a training course is not viable due to lack of places booked we reserve the right to cancel the course. Should we cancel a course we will try in the first instance to accommodate you on an alternative, equivalent course. If this does not suit you, you will receive a full refund of the course fee.

In the event of adverse weather or other factors beyond our control which in the opinion of Tamworth Sailing Club are dangerous and/or unsuitable conditions for the activity:

I declare that to the best of my knowledge, I am fit to participate in the above course and confident in the water.

Illness or medical conditions need not necessarily prevent a student taking part in the course, which can be strenuous and wet, but it is clearly in everyone's interest that instructors are aware of any potential problem. Please make your instructor aware of any medical conditions or treatment you believe is relevant to your enjoyment and safety during the training event (e.g. inhaler etc.)

The club is indemnified for £3,000,000 however our insurers require that we include the following disclaimers.

a) The RYA, the principal, RYA senior instructors, RYA instructors, assistant instructors do not accept responsibility for any loss, damage, or injury suffered by persons and / or their property arising out of or during the course of their activities whilst training and/or coaching and/or instructing unless such loss or damage was caused by or resulted from their negligence, or deliberate act.

b) Neither the club or the RYA will be responsible for any damage to or loss of property belonging to members, their guests, or visitors, nor will the club accept liability for personal injury sustained by members, their guests, or visitors arising out of the use of the club premises, the club boats (or any other facilities provided by the club) or participation in any event organised by the club, whether or not such damage shall be occasioned by neglect, default or negligence of any of them, the officers, committee or servants of the club.
